Spyware taken to a new level?

Ok, call me paranoid. I probably am. But why on earth does Macromedia require, or even allow, websites to have access to the webcam and microphone of a user? Spyware taken on a whole new meaning? WTF?

I was rummaging around the website of my favourite band, Green Day, recently. Feeling somewhat seasick with the flash graphics (my age, I know), I right-clicked to turn the video off and the menu appeared. From the properties, this little nugget:

All websites with a flash component can, theoretically, have full, unrestricted access to the webcam and microphone of the viewer? Spyware indeed!
